December is just around the corner and this means that Christmas is so close! This is why I’m sharing a DIY advent calendar idea that it is not only handmade, but also reusable so that you’re done for the next years. Win win!

Dicembre è dietro l’angolo e ciò significa che Natale è davvero vicino! Ecco perché oggi condivido con voi questo calendario dell’avvento fai da te. Non è solo facile da fare, ma è anche riutilizzabile, quindi sarete a posto per i prossimi anni. Niente male, eh?
The last year I created this minimalist hanging advent calendar, this time I opted for something that could be reusable for years, cause I know how hard it can be to find time to make crafts every year. This project is low budget and super easy to make, I had a lot of fun and I hope you will too!

L’anno scorso avevo fatto questo calendario dell’avvento minimal, stavolta ho optato per un’idea riutilizzabile, dato che so quanto difficile sia trovare il tempo per realizzare le decorazioni ogni anno. Questo progetto non è solo facile, ma anche low budget, io mi sono divertita molto a crearlo, spero sarà lo stesso per voi!

You need // vi occorre:
- square paper box (I recycled one from Ikea) // scatola di cartone quadrata (io ne ho riciclata una di Ikea)
- cardboard // cartoncino
- spray paint + glitter // vernice spray e glitter
- glue // colla
- scissors // forbici
- pencil + ruler // matita e righello
- cutter // taglierino
- chocolates // cioccolatini
- pin+ beads (optional) // spillo + perline (opzionale)
How to // come procedere:
1)
To make this DIY advent calendar box, first paint it the way you like. I’ve opted for gold paint and glitter with a geometrical shape. // Per realizzare questo calendario dell’avvento fai da te, innanzitutto dipingete la scatola come più vi piace. Io ho optato per uno stile geometrico, vernice oro e glitter.

Now let’s make the dividers. Open the box and divide the bottom in 25 equal squares with pencil and ruler. You will have 4 vertical and 4 horizontal lines. Then take the cardroard and cut 8 rectangles with the same lenght as the lines and as high as the bottom of the box. // Ora facciamo i divisori. Aprite la scatola e dividetene il fondo in 25 quadrati uguali, usando il righello e la matita. Otterrete 4 linee verticali e 4 orizzontali. Prendete dunque il cartoncino e ritagliate 8 rettangoli, lunghi quanto le linee e alti quanto il fondo della scatola.

Put the 4 horizontal dividers in the box along the lines then mark with pencil where the vertical have to go and cut slots in both the horizontal and vertical dividers. Then finally assembly them to create the squares. // Ponete i 4 divisori orizzontali nella scatola lungo le loro linee, poi segnate sui verticali la corrispondenza per creare i quadrati. Quindi fate dei tagli sui divisori orizzontali e verticali proprio dove si devono incastrare ed infine assemblate i divisori e create i quadrati.

Take the assembled dividers and lay them onto the inside of the lid. Mark with the pencil the centre of each square since you will create the openings. Then use the ruler to make them aligned and big enough to let the chocolates pass through. // Prendete i divisori montati e appoggiateli sull’interno del coperchio. Fate dei segni con la matita in corrispondenza del centro di ogni quadrato, dato che dovrete creare le aperture. Aiutatevi poi con il righello per renderle tutte uguali, dritte e grandi abbastanza per far passare i cioccolatini.

Now cut the openings with the cutter, leaving for each square the left side. // Ora tagliate le caselline con il cutter ma lasciate il lato sinistro di ogni apertura.
6)
Make the final details: add glitter on the openings, paint the inside of the box and fill it with the chocolates, then write the numbers 1-25 on the openings. I also made little holes and fixed a bead on each opening, to make it easier to open them, but it is totally your choice! Your advent calendar is ready! // Ora i dettagli finali: contornate le caselline con del glitter, dipingete l’interno della scatola e riempitela con i cioccolatini, poi scrivete i numeri da 1 a 25 sulle caselline. So che la nostra tradizione ne vorrebbe 24, ma usando una scatola quadrata 25 era la scelta più estetica 🙂 e poi è una buona scusa per mangiare un cioccolatino in più ahah! Io ho anche fatto un piccolo buco on uno spillo su ogni casella, ed infilato una perlina che ho poi fissato all’interno. Questo per rendere l’apertura della caselline più agevole, ma decidete voi se copiarmi o no! Il vostro calendario dell’avvento è pronto!
